Elite Robots with Universal Robots UR20 counterpart

Faster than expected, the Chinese cobot supplier Elite Robots has presented an answer to the Universal Robot UR20. With the same payload of 20 kg, it has a reach of 180 cm, which is 5 cm longer. The speed is high at 3.9 m/sec. At 60 kg, it would be slightly lighter than the UR 20. The most important question, that of quality, must be answered by practice


Strong competition

At Unchained Robotics, Elite Robots' EC Series models cost about 40% less than the comparable Universal Robots models. The CS series, to which the new heavyweight belongs, is already said to be easier to program. If we assume a price difference of perhaps 30%, the CS620 should be about 15,000 euros cheaper than the UR 20. With the price difference and inflexible use (e.g. only palletizing), a somewhat more difficult programming should be quickly accepted by the customer, as long as the quality is right. However, Universal Robots is not likely to feel this competition in Europe any time soon. On the one hand, Elite Robots is still weak here, and then it could take even longer for the Chinese to deliver the Cobot. In Asia, however, the market leader could come under pressure more quickly. A fast cobot with a high payload was already recently no longer a USP(link). However, competitors have not been much cheaper so far. This is changing. Elite Robots is under great pressure because it wants to quickly catch up with the market leader, but it is not nearly as well financed as Jaka or, presumably, Doosan Robotics.

Whether the CS 620 actually has IP 68 (statement in the video) is not fixed yet. IP 54 is mentioned on the product page.
