First "seamless" interaction CNC machine with Cobot

The American company VersaBuilt has developed the first ever interface for machine control applications with MRK, and specifically with those of the market leader Universal Robots. The URCap, allows a UR cobot to execute any machining program stored on the CNC directly through the robot's own teach pendant. The tool, initially developed for Haas CNC machines, will develop UR interfaces for other popular CNC brands later this year.


The Haas CNC Communication URCap will soon be available through the UR+ platform, a showroom of products all certified for seamless integration with UR robots. The URCap retains all Haas safety interlock features and works with Haas, VersaBuilt and other third-party automatic door openers.

Also of interest is VersaBuilt's patented MultiGrip ™ clamping system, which will soon be available through the UR+ platform. MultiGrip™ includes an automatic vise, machinable jaws and an arm wrench tool for the UR robot. MultiGrip™ was designed to address the difficulties of working with traditional robotic grippers and CNC vices. The arguably unique clamping system allows the robot and CNC machine to share a set of MultiGrip™ machinable jaws for mounting, demounting and CNC machining, resulting in reduced engineering costs, simpler robot programming, faster setup time and improved machining capabilities.

The video is not particularly interesting, since it still shows the classic use without VersaBuilt. The teach panel hangs "well-behaved" on the machine.
