Case study: Cobot as a cardboard box erector

Palletizing robots are attracting a lot of attention. Almost every manufacturer can now offer or mediate ready-made solutions(example Omron). Coboworx recently even presented a solution based on a robot it developed itself. But how is the carton erected and glued shut, which is needed in large quantities? Keyword carton erector.

Stadler was a star at the robot days of Jugard+Künstner

Last week I was an exhibitor at the J+K Robot Days in Altdorf (soon with a different program in Gera). One of the most admired was a carton station from Stadler. Cartons were set up and folded automatically. Time to present some videos to show that the whole process(packing to palletizing) can be automated.

Stadler also has a complete solution (set up and pack up). The video is available on the Stadler website(link).

There are many complete solutions

This video is also descriptive and shows the entire process. Although from abroad, but the technology is also more common in the DACH region, see also link before.

By the way, labeling is also possible.

Solution also for fast 7-axle

As mentioned at the beginning, there is a solution for virtually all manufacturers. No video is available for Kassow Robots, for example. The special feature of these cobots: Higher mobility (narrow space) due to seventh axis and above-average maneuverability. For Kassow, among others, the integrator ST-IR offers a solution.

A look back: A few years ago, this was still an innovation that had increased productivity: Optimal arrangement of tables, etc. - all without a cobot, but with 2 employees per shift:
