Fanuc expands production capacity by up to 50% - because of cobots?

Armin Barnitzke revealed it in Automation Practice: Fanuc is adding three more, larger models to its CRX line of cobots(link). The new models could explain why Fanuc is expanding production capacity by an impressive 25-50%. Of course, the overall market is doing well, but the growth of industrial robots is more modest than that of cobots. In addition, the 2021 growth spurt could be met with existing capacity.

Fanuc becomes more and more optimistic

It is interesting to see how quickly Fanuc has valued the sales potential higher. As a publicly traded company, the management board answers questions to investors and financial analysts on a quarterly basis. In the Q&A session on 10/27/21, a 20% production expansion per month was advised - based on a current capacity of 11,000 units(link, p. 2). Only three months later, on 26.01.22, a completely different figure is given(Link, p. 1): Now it is being examined whether 16,500 units/month can also be produced. As fixed new capacity 14,000 units are mentioned, i.e. + 27%. Together with the cobots already produced, Fanuc could at least assume sales of well over 20,000 cobots p.a., even if viewed conservatively. The figure could also be considerably higher.

Here is the video that Armin Barnitzke watched very closely - I would have missed it.
