Inside: Franka Emika soon with new Cobot

Already in 2019, there was a "cheeky" foreign Franka distributor (cf. screenshot from then), who held out the prospect of a supplement to the first model "Panda". This was then also confirmed to me by Franka employees on the occasion of an event of the Bavarian state government, at which Franka is always a welcome exhibitor. Now it can be assumed that the second model will be presented in the coming months, probably at the quarterly change from two to three.

The new model should have at least IP 54 and thus solve one of the main shortcomings of the Panda. In addition, it has interesting interfaces such as OPC/UA, Modbus TCP (so far an accessory) and other features that the Panda does not have. It remains to be seen whether the new model can really lift significantly more, e.g. at least 7 kg instead of the current 3 kg. Safety-related certifications mentioned are EN ISO 10218-1:2011 and EN ISO 13489:2015. Currently, the new robot is called "FE-3". "FE" stands for Franka Emika. Since there is only one robot so far, it would be interesting to know why a number was apparently skipped in the numbering.
