Collaboration with 150 kg industrial robot

BMW, known for strict occupational safety, is now using "real" industrial robots without a safety fence. This is not yet a special feature in times of sensor technology. In addition, however, the robot is guided with 2 fingers while carrying 150 kg.

Mr. Weber, process planner at the Regensburg plant, points out the expandability of the concept in the video. The safety concept was developed by AyTec Automation. This human-robot collaboration is currently used in 4 plants on 7 lines.

As an aside, it will be interesting to see how cobots contribute to innovations in the field of industrial robotics. Ultimately, they are likely to serve as role models and sometimes even exert pressure. The clever AirSkin implementation is also worth mentioning.
