Schmalz at Interpack 2023: Vacuum Helpers for Intralogistics

In addition to the "typical" robotics trade fairs such as automatica, LogiMat or Motek, there are trade fairs for other industries at which robot manufacturers and accessory suppliers also exhibit. One example is the slowly approachingInterpack 2023, which will be held in Düsseldorf from May 04 to 10. Among others, the (vacuum) gripper specialist Schmalz will be represented at this one. Below is its press release.

In Germany, 93 percent of all food products end up packaged in the stores. At Interpack 2023 (May 4 to 10) in Hall 13 at Stand A38, Schmalz will be showing solutions that handle these and other industrial goods - reliably, efficiently and ergonomically.

Bags, cans, jars or cardboard boxes - hardly any food, non-food product and other production goods can do without a protective wrapping. In order to grip and palletize these safely and gently, J. Schmalz GmbH develops systems for automated and manual handling with vacuum. The Black Forest-based company will be exhibiting some of these at Interpack in Düsseldorf starting May 4. At booth A38 in hall 13, interested visitors will find a balanced mix of vacuum components, complete systems and handling devices. Schmalz is addressing the topic of sustainable vacuum automation with its electric Compact Pump GCPi. It generates the required vacuum purely electrically, making grippers and robots independent of compressed air. In combination with the electric 3/2-way compact valve LQE, the compressed air-free vacuum system achieves the same performance level as conventional ejector solutions.

Turn the cobot into a palletizer: the layer gripper ZLW

Individually and together

Among the gripper innovations is the PSPF bellows suction pad for automated handling of bags that tend to wrinkle. Its secret is the combination of two materials with very different properties: The sealing lip is particularly soft and conformable, while the bellows is reinforced. Both components are firmly connected to each other and can thus seal optimally while at the same time following the dynamics of particularly fast packaging processes.

The ZLW lightweight layer gripper picks up entire layers of jars or cans, for example. Its own weight is so low that it hardly steals any payload even from a cobot. Schmalz customizes all components of the lightweight gripper to the application - right down to the correctly dimensioned vacuum generator.

The AGR-certified JumboFlex Weight-Control lifts and weighs in one movement.

Three times Jumbo, three times thought differently

With a tube lifter from the Jumbo series, skilled workers can get a good job done and lift even heavy loads safely and ergonomically. Schmalz will be demonstrating which version is suitable for which application at its trade show booth: The JumboSprint 65 can be easily placed on sacks, buckets or canisters thanks to its rotating handle, the Jumbo Ergo 85 is ideal for flat loads, and the JumboFlex 35 impresses not only with its dynamics but also with its clever additional functions. For example, the Weight Control variant lifts and weighs loads in a single movement. All three vacuum lifters have been awarded the AGR seal of quality. The independent association Aktion Gesunder Rücken e. V. (AGR) thus certifies that the lifting aids reduce the physical strain on users and thus make the working environment more ergonomic.

Sponsored robotics consulting
The author of this blog answers companies the question if and how a robot could be used at your company (initial analysis including recommendation). This in the greater areas of Trier and Lüneburg as well as Eastern Germany without Leipzig/ Berlin for 700 € net, in the rest of Germany for an all-inclusive price of 1,750 € net (incl. travel). The low price is possible thanks to promotion. Permanently looking for interesting solutions, he has already seen hundreds of applications. For this reason, his customers also include large companies that have know-how but do not know the entire market. For companies with 250 employees or more or those based in Austria or Switzerland, the flat rate does not apply. You can find more about him here.
