World premiere (?): Cobots in the hospital lab

MEDILYS Laborgesellschaft mbH now offers an automation solution for small to medium-sized hospitals based on Siemens Healthineers equipment. Included is the Sawyer from Rethink Robotics. Siemens is a minority shareholder in Rethink Robotic. Rethink Robotics' majority shareholder is United Robotics Group. (Ownership was initially misrepresented here, for which apologies are apologized). The close connection to Rethink Robotics may explain at first glance why the Sawyer was chosen. Looking at the video, however, it quickly becomes clear that a 7-axis robot like the Sawyer has a clear advantage. (Franka with its 7 axes should not remain unmentioned, Kassow Robots might be too exotic for the application shown). In addition, the Sawyer with its reach of 1.26 m can reach an area of about 5 sqm. Here, reach also means radius.

I put a question mark in the title of the post because I am amazed that there should not have been any cobots in the hospital lab so far. I would have seen Denso's Cobotta there so far, maybe it is not considered a full-blown cobot due to its compactness. Regardless, it's the solution, including creativity in special machine construction, that counts.
