Automatic tool changer for cobots & co.

The Norwegian company Smartshift has introduced an interesting tool changer. In Germany, the tool is distributed by Smart Cobotix. At this point, a dispensing system had already been presented by the company Fichter Maschinen West GmbH. In the meantime, Fichter Maschinen West GmbH has changed its name to Smart Cobotix.

System is patented

Thanks to the patented tool changing system from Smartshift Robotics, the robot can now automatically change its own tools. Changing opens up new and constructive concepts for the use of collaborative robots. The changing system can be adapted to different robots. Electrical signals as well as pneumatics are carried out from the base to the tool holder. The mode of operation is simple and purely mechanical; the changing system does not require any separate control. Robots from Universal Robots, Omron, ABB, Auro, Dobot, Doosan, Fanuc, Kuka, Hanwha, Kassow Robots, Yaskawa and others are currently supported.

The robots can now switch from one application to another quickly and easily. It also makes it easier to use the robots flexibly at different locations for different tasks.
