Beckhoff shows modular lightweight robot

One of the surprises at automatica was the lightweight robot in modular design shown by Beckhoff. Since, from today's perspective, it is not expected to come onto the market for another two to three years, RobCo still has time to make the most of its time as a monopolist in this field. No other modular robot is available on the German market. Robots are called modular if they can be configured differently within a very short time in a modular system. From the user's point of view, this makes sense for changing applications (sometimes more reach, sometimes more payload is required). From the supplier's point of view, modularity makes sense in rental models. Less has to be invested in hardware to serve the same number of customers.

The "Atro" is already being exhibited in order to find out customer preferences regarding payload and range at an early stage. The explanations on the Beckhoff website are already very extensive for this actually still early stage.

Various highlights

The Atro scores with several highlights, such as the possibility that each joint rotates endlessly (video below). Then it can be configured as desired and also allows air cooling. Above all, however, it is fully integrated into the Beckhoff control world. It also shows how beautiful robots can look.
