Cell phone manufacturer Xiaomi introduces humanoid robot

It is still a prototype, but Chinese companies are known to be fast. It cannot be ruled out that Xiaomi will launch a humanoid robot on the market before Tesla. The company would have enough reason to do so, as sales dropped by 30% in the last quarter. However, the lockdown in China contributed to this. The new cell phone introduced these days (retail price €1,300) is apparently in great demand.

"CyberOne" is already well advanced

The "CyberOne," as the robot is called, still walks woodenly. Nevertheless, it already seems to be well developed. At a height of 1.77 m, it weighs 52 kg. It has 13 joints with 21 lines of freedom and can recognize humans and the environment via 45 and 81 characteristics, respectively. In terms of price, it should cost as much as a "good car". This could also be 100,000 euros. However, it would be much cheaper than its 30 cm smaller colleague from Boston Dynamics ("Atlas").

Time not yet ripe?

I do believe that humanoid robots will one day be able to replace the cobot, but I also believe that we humans are not yet ready. Before I would accept CyberOne in my environment, for example, I would first like to gain experience with the Mipa from Neura Robotics or the Samsung Bot. Both household robots seem much less threatening to me. And even with these two friendly fellows, many would be overwhelmed today. But to learn, a sales target of a few thousand in the first few years of market launch would probably be enough. Xiaomi seems to be ahead of Tesla.
