Highly accurate (5 μm), small and inexpensive

The Meca 500 from the Canadian startup Mecademic is not a cobot, but an interesting alternative to them in terms of low payload (it can only manage 500g) and low reach (260 mm). On the other hand, it weighs only 4.5 kg, is fixed and boasts extremely high repeatability. Thus, the 6-axis seems to be predestined for applications in the field of precision mechanics, electronics or, among others, also the food industry (only IP 40!). Its price of about 15,000 USD is significantly below the level of the large industrial robots.

If you can't or don't want to program, you can use drag&bot to issue commands without any code knowledge by means of intuition and the included program library. By the way, there are also small robots, some of them faster, but not quite as extremely precise.

The application shown in the video is located in a dental industry supplier plant in Bremen.

The author of this blog is available for market research or even a walk through your production/manufacturing at a fixed price(detail), and then make specific proposals for the use of cobots and other robots incl. funding opportunities. Both SMEs and large companies are visited. Among other things in Bavaria a 50% investment promotion is conceivable. The standard book on cobots also comes from him.
