Pragmatic occupational safety with Sick?

The Chinese manufacturer Elite Robot offers fast (2.8 m/sec.), solid, but technically no longer up to date cobots with the EC series. These are only available here via detours, but very cheap. A few weeks ago, we reported here about the successful Portuguese partner of the Chinese.

In a new video, a pragmatic solution is shown - whether it is permissible in this way, I cannot judge: A Sick distance sensor is located on the Cobot base and monitors its surroundings. Besides the danger that it could fall off, there is the question of a possible blind spot behind the base. If necessary, two Sick would have to be mounted. I think that then the complete solution would still cost well under 20,000 € and would therefore still be attractive. (At slower speeds, no sensor would be necessary).
