Wandelbots receives €26 million from Microsoft and Siemens, among others

The Dresden-based startup Wandelbots, which is dedicated to robot programming without code, has received €26 million in another round of financing from various investors. In addition to Siemens, Microsoft is one of the investors. However, the largest investor in the round was apparently the London-based venture capitalist 83North. Previous venture capitalists Paua Ventures, EQT and Atlantic Labs have also joined in. Paua Ventures also has a stake in Coboworx. The structure of the capital providers means both opportunity and risk for the management. Opportunity in the sense that it can move forward with a lot of money and at least Microsoft and Siemens as shareholders speak for the quality of the product, risk because the pressure from venture capital investors is very high. The business plan will be very ambitious. The pull effect for Dresden as a location can be enormous.

Wandelbots caused a stir last year when Microsoft boss Nadell programmed a robot standing in Dresden from Seattle using movements. The "Tracepen" is said to be able to reduce programming by a factor of 70. If he gets his way, nothing should stand in the way of the triumphant advance of robotics/cobots in small and medium-sized businesses. However, it would not be the programmers or integrators who would benefit, but primarily the equipment suppliers. At the same time, the differentiating feature of easy programming would lose weight. The money raised is to be used for the market launch. Important: The Tracepen can also be used to program industrial robots.

The company reportedly experienced a surge in demand as a result of the pandemic: Larger companies had noticed the fragility of their supply chains and then quickly scaled up processes at their headquarters, in part with the help of Wandelbots.

The author of this blog is available for market research or even a walk through your production/manufacturing or by phone based on photos/descriptions at a fixed price(detail), to then make concrete proposals for the use of cobots and other robots incl. funding opportunities. Both SMEs and large companies are visited. Among other things in Bavaria a 50% investment promotion is conceivable. The standard book on cobots also comes from him.
